What this site is

An independent comparison of guided day tours that depart Sapporo and return the same evening, plus the practical information a visitor needs before booking one. We are not a tour operator, a travel agency or a seller of travel. We hold no bookings, take no payments and have no staff in Japan.

Every booking happens on the platform's own site under the operator's terms. If something goes wrong with a tour, the operator and the platform are who you deal with, not us.

Where the tour data comes from

Directly from each activity listing: the tour name, the operator, the product ID, the starting price in USD, the rating, the review count, the duration, the itinerary and its stop lengths, the inclusions and exclusions, the meeting point, the cancellation terms and the operator's own warnings.

Each tour page carries the same spec sheet, in the same order, so the tours can be read against each other rather than against their own marketing. Where a listing is silent, a minimum age, a wheelchair note, a drinks line, the sheet says "None stated" instead of us guessing. We do not copy the operator's description; we summarise what the listing commits to.

Prices are the starting adult price shown to a traveller browsing in USD, and they move. Both the discounted and the full price appear on some listings; we record the price a buyer would see first, with the month we read it.

Where the fees, hours and season dates come from

Attraction information is checked against official sources rather than against the tour listings, because the two often disagree. Asahiyama Zoo's admission and its four seasonal opening schedules come from the zoo's published calendar. Shikisai-no-Oka's 800-yen summer rate, revised in 2026, comes from the park's own information. Farm Tomita's 2026 season dates and its daily lavender forecast come from the farm. The Hill of the Buddha's 1,000-yen admission and its cash-only-in-1,000-yen-notes rule come from Makomanai Takino Cemetery's own English page. Cape Kamui's month-by-month gate hours come from the Shakotan tourism association. The Otaru Blue Cave suspension comes from the Otaru Blue Cave Council's notice after the 17 July 2025 rockfall, cross-checked against 2026 operator notices.

Climate figures are Japan Meteorological Agency normals for Sapporo. Where a source is a traveller report rather than an official page, we say so.

These are documentary checks. Nobody from this site inspected a gate, rode a coach or timed a stop, and we do not write as though they had.

How reviews are used

Reviews are read for patterns, not for praise. We quote them as published, with the reviewer's first name, country and the month, and we quote the critical ones as well as the good ones: the note that August is past lavender season, the repeated request for more time at Cape Kamui, the discomfort several travellers express about a bear-park stop.

Where the booking platform publishes its own summary of a year of reviews, we attribute it to the platform rather than presenting it as our reading. We do not paste dozens of full reviews, and we do not use reviews to imply anyone from this site was on the bus.

What we cannot verify

Three things, stated plainly.

We cannot verify that a listing's itinerary is what runs on your date. Every operator here reserves the right to reorder or drop stops for weather, traffic or facility hours, and several say outright that no refund follows.

We cannot verify live availability or the price you will be charged at checkout. Both are set by the platform and can change between our check and your booking.

We cannot verify conditions on the ground: how much lavender is out, whether the Cape Kamui gate is open in a gale, whether snow has closed the Asahikawa road. Where a source publishes a live forecast, as Farm Tomita does, we point at it rather than repeating a number that expires.

How often this is re-checked

Prices, ratings and review counts are re-read on a schedule and every page carries the month of its last check. Fee and opening-hour information is re-checked when a season changes, and the status of anything closed or suspended, currently the Otaru Blue Cave interior, is re-checked before each season starts.

If a tour is withdrawn from the platform, it comes off this site rather than staying up as a dead listing. If you spot a stale number, tell us; that is faster than our own cycle.

How affiliate links affect this

We earn a commission when a booking is made through a link here, at no extra cost to you. Full terms are on the affiliate disclosure page.

What that does not change: which tour is recommended for which traveller, what the spec sheets say, or whether an operator's warning gets printed. Commission rates do not differ enough between these listings to be worth distorting a comparison for, and a comparison nobody trusts earns nothing anyway.

What it does change, honestly: the catalog itself. Every tour here is bookable through an affiliate programme, so a tour sold only on a Japanese-language site or at a hotel desk will not appear, however good it is. That is a real limit on what this page can tell you, and it is why the pages about doing it yourself by train or car are written as seriously as the tour pages.
