Furano Lavender, Ningle Terrace & Melon Buffet Bus Tour

S1: peak lavender, 20 June to 9 August 2026

Departure 08:15 to 08:30 from the ANA Crowne Plaza, a rest stop at Iwamizawa, then Ningle Terrace at 11:00 for an hour, an unusual choice, since most tours use it as an evening stop, but it means you walk the forest boardwalk before the coaches arrive.

Miyama Toge Art Park follows at 12:45: a trick-art museum and viewpoint in the Biei hills, and on most packages your fare includes a gelato with up to six flavours and a Ferris wheel ticket. Lunch at Herb Garden Furano from 13:30, then Farm Tomita at 14:50 for 45 minutes, which is the shortest allocation to the lavender farm of any tour here.

Back at Sapporo Station north exit at 18:30. This route is timed to the lavender: Farm Tomita's 2026 season ran 20 June to 10 August, peaking around 12 to 22 July, which is exactly the window S1 covers.

S2: flowers into autumn, 10 August to 31 October 2026

The same departure, but the route reshuffles to follow the colour. Miyama Pass Art Park at 11:35, then Shikisai-no-Oka from 12:15 for an hour, with the admission included on these packages, which matters because the gate is 800 yen from July to September.

Lunch at Herb Garden Furano, then Ningle Terrace from 15:10 for 50 minutes, then home by 18:30.

This is the route to book from mid-August onward, when the lavender is cut and Shikisai-no-Oka's rotating bands are the reason to come. In October the same hillside sits under autumn colour, which the operator argues is a better photograph than the summer version. W3: the winter route, 1 December 2026 to 31 March 2027

A later start, 08:45 to 09:00, and a completely different itinerary. Lunch first at Ferme La Terre Biei, then Biei Shrine, known locally as a matchmaking shrine; the Christmas Tree No Ki, a single spruce standing alone in a snowfield that is one of the most photographed objects in Hokkaido; and Bibaushi Station, an unstaffed rural halt that looks exactly like the winter Japan people imagine.

Farm Tomita follows at 14:50, and here the operator has a genuinely good trick: the farm's greenhouse keeps lavender in bloom through the winter, so a December visit still gives you purple rows. Then the Furano Winery for tasting and shopping, and back to Sapporo at 19:00.

On W3-2 lunch is Biei pork tenderloin. On W3-1 there is no lunch, and the listing warns that on that package you cannot use the restaurant's indoor dine-in seats.

Take it if you want to know exactly what you are buying

Every other flower tour in this catalog sells a season. This one sells a schedule: departure at 08:15, Ningle Terrace at 11:00, Farm Tomita at 14:50, back at 18:30. If you are building a week around fixed points, a dinner reservation, a train to Hakodate the next morning, that is worth real money.

H.I.S. is one of Japan's largest travel agencies, and the coach product is a domestic mass-market one with an English guide attached rather than a small outfit's side business. The two motorway rest stops in the published schedule are a small tell: this is a Japanese bus tour, run to Japanese bus-tour conventions.

The winter route is the most distinctive thing in the whole catalog. Nothing else here goes to the Christmas Tree No Ki, Bibaushi Station or a Furano winery, and the greenhouse lavender at Farm Tomita in December is a genuinely unusual thing to be able to see.

Think twice about the missing rating and the package maze

And the flower-time allocation is short: 45 minutes at Farm Tomita, against a full hour on the four-language coach.

No refund if nature does not perform

This is standard across Hokkaido flower tours and simply more honestly stated here. Manage it by booking the route that matches the date rather than hoping: S1 for lavender in the second and third weeks of July, S2 for autumn colour in October, W3 for snow. Ningle Terrace has entry restrictions

Another specific one: "Ningle Terrace currently implements entry restrictions. If it is determined that entry to Ningle Terrace is not possible, the tour itinerary will be changed to visit Torinuma Park instead."

So the boardwalk is a probable rather than a guaranteed stop. Torinuma Park is a pleasant Furano park and not a substitute for what you booked. The zoo and Blue Pond day carries a similar caveat about the same site, so it is a Ningle Terrace issue rather than an H.I.S. one.

Dietary requirements cost extra

On the W3-2 winter lunch, an allergy-friendly or vegetarian meal carries an additional processing fee of 2,200 yen per person, and menu items change with seasonal availability. That is a large surcharge relative to a $63 tour and worth factoring in before booking a package with lunch.
